Led by experienced and passionate founders Lorne Lampert, BFA, B.Ed and Jonathan Katz, B.Mus, this dynamic company based in Toronto is revolutionizing the way kids stay active and healthy with their fun and interactive programs that blend cardio exercise with music education.
Lorne Lampert, known as “Lorne C.D.O.” (Chief Drumming Officer), has dedicated his life to rhythm, music education, movement, and creating unforgettable experiences for children and families through the arts. As the founder of Mystic Drumz, Lorne combines world music, entertainment, physical activity, and education to inspire creativity, confidence, teamwork, and joy.
From a young age, Lorne was passionate about rhythm, movement, dance, and sound exploration. That passion grew into a lifelong career in music performance and interactive education. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours in World Music Performance from York University, followed by a Bachelor of Education specializing in Music. His studies provided both advanced musical training and a strong understanding of child development, movement-based learning, and creative education.
Lorne also has a strong interest in physical education, fitness, and the connection between rhythm and movement. He believes movement builds confidence, self-expression, teamwork, and community engagement. This passion is reflected in many of his programs, which combine drumming, body percussion, dance, cardio movement, interactive games, and audience participation to create energetic and immersive experiences.
Lorne has studied under internationally respected percussionists including Trichy Sankaran, Abraham Adzenyah, Nii Tetteh, Glen Velez, Giovanni Hidalgo, and Sal Ferreras. These influences helped shape his dynamic and diverse approach to rhythm education and performance.
For more than 30 years, Lorne has created and delivered Mystic Drumz’s signature “World Music Safari Adventure” performances and workshops for schools, camps, festivals, theatres, corporate events, and community organizations across Ontario. Known for his high-energy stage presence and ability to engage large groups, he specializes in large-format performances, team-building experiences, and interactive music programming for all ages and abilities.
Lorne continues to bring people together through rhythm, movement, music, and shared experiences.
Jonathan is co-founder of Cardio Drumming Inc. and a specialist in large-scale rhythm-based experiences, known for his ability to engage, unify, and direct groups through structured, high-impact participation (and somehow convince 200 people to hit a drum at the same time).
A graduate of McGill University (B.Mus, Jazz Drums), he brings over two decades of experience at the intersection of music, movement, and audience engagement—along with a simple guiding belief: if you have a heartbeat, you have rhythm.
He is also the founder of Drums In Paradise, a Cancun-based company that has become one of the leading entertainment providers across the Mayan Riviera, delivering more than 1,500 events annually at five-star resorts. This experience was built in environments where engagement isn’t optional—and where quickly connecting with a crowd is essential.
Jonathan has led over 1,000 interactive drum and percussion experiences for groups ranging from small classes to audiences of more than 2,000 participants. He is known for his ability to read a room, establish control, and turn large groups into coordinated, responsive ensembles (no auditions required).
Through Cardio Drumming, he co-develops programs that translate these real-world engagement principles into structured formats for schools, camps, and organizations—making high-level group experiences accessible, repeatable, and effective at any scale.
